Overview:
Team Peace emerged as the overall winner for the Olympic Values contest at Olive Schooll Namugongo. Trevor Mutegeki of team Peace and Paul Herman Ahabwe (Humanity) were outstanding in Public speaking.In the Debate session, Peace Nyafwono (Peace) shone as the best female whilst Walter Wamani (Joy of Effort) was best male.
The Culture and Olympic Education commission at the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) in conjunction with the Olympic Solidarity organized a tranquil day-long Olympic Values contest at the Olive School, Namugongo.

The well attended contest was embedded along the theme “Live the Values, Shape the future”.
The Olympic values fronted are; Respect, Joy of Effort, Balance, Friendship, Fair Play, Peace, Humanity, and Excellence with the mixed teams of students named after these aforementioned values.

Besides public speaking and debate, the students also engaged in essay writing, poetry recital, quiz bowl competitions, and other value-based challenges.
This was the 11th edition also graced by the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) president Dr Donald Rukare and the Miss Uganda 2026, Trivia Muhoza.
Muhoza inspired participants with messages on self-awareness, empowerment of the girl child, respect, and friendship.






More than 200 students from 23 schools across the different regions of Uganda came together; to celebrate and promote the spirit of Olympism through education, creativity, and competition.
Dr. Donald Rukare emphasized the importance of Olympic values in shaping responsible and resilient young leaders.
This was the 11th edition of the Olympic Values contest by students from the different schools in Uganda. It was a very successful event held at the Olive School Namugongo with good representation from across the country. I thank the different schools, the Culture and Olympic Education commission of the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) and our partners the Olympic Solidarity. The different Olympic values (Respect, Joy of Effort, Balance, Friendship, Fair Play, Peace, Humanity, and Excellence) help to shape responsible and resilient young leaders in society.

Throughout the competition, students engaged in thought-provoking discussions and creative presentations highlighting the role of positive values in building stronger communities and a better future.







Organizers noted that the contest continues to nurture character, critical thinking, leadership, and social responsibility among Uganda’s youth.
The top five performers from the various categories will represent Uganda at the Olympic Values Symposium in Lesotho this July, providing them with an opportunity to share experiences and further champion Olympic values on the international stage.
