Kampala Queens have reached the final of the FUFA Women’s Cup for the first time in their history after overcoming Lady Doves over two legs.
The Queens of Soccer got the better of the Masindi-based outfit, winning 4-0 on aggregate. The first leg in Kampala on Saturday ended in a 2-0, and the same scoreline was registered in the return fixture on Wednesday.
Coincidentally, Kamiyati Naigaga and Joanita Ainembabazi, who scored in the first leg, were once again on the score-sheet today.
Kampala Queens will therefore face Kawempe Muslim in the final slated for Sunday this week at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
Kawempe, who are seeking to win a double, eliminated holders Amus College 4-0 on aggregate. The first leg in Bukedea ended 3-0, while today’s return leg at the Valley Grounds saw Kawempe win with the same scoreline to advance 6-0 on aggregate.
In the previous six editions that the tournament has been staged, no team has either won it twice or defended the crown and with Kampala Queens plus Kawempe Muslim reaching this year’s final, the trend will continue.
