The 2026 Uganda Handball Super League Women’s competition continued to gather momentum over the weekend at Old Kampala Sports Hall, with Matchday 18 producing goals, individual brilliance, and significant implications for the league standings.
Four teams took to the court across two fixtures, but it was Police Handball Club who once again underlined their championship credentials with a commanding performance against Kyengeza HC, while Nkajja HC recovered from a difficult outing the previous day to edge Mbogo High School HC in a closely contested encounter.
Police continue ruthless run
Fresh from a convincing 43-30 victory over UPDF HC on Saturday, Police HC returned on Sunday looking to complete a perfect weekend against Kyengeza HC. They did exactly that, producing another attacking masterclass to secure a dominant 55-40 victory.
The encounter was a spectacle for neutral fans, with both sides displaying an attacking approach from the opening whistle. Kyengeza HC refused to sit back and took the game to their more fancied opponents, ensuring the first half remained highly competitive.
Despite Kyengeza’s determination, Police’s superior firepower eventually proved decisive. The law enforcers carried a narrow 26-23 advantage into halftime before accelerating after the break to complete a fifteen-goal triumph.
The star of the afternoon was undoubtedly Hilda Mary Abangit, who delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 16 goals to lead Police’s offensive charge. She received excellent support from Ato Ritah Recho, who contributed 11 goals, while Royce Namutosi and Patricia Arago each added five goals. Brenda Kwiochwyn also chipped in with four goals as Police spread the scoring responsibility effectively.
For Kyengeza HC, the defeat did little to diminish the effort they produced. Shadia Nansubuga led their resistance with an impressive 12-goal display, while Sabina Nangiro added nine. Britney Nsubuga contributed seven goals, and Angel Nasolo scored six as Kyengeza showed plenty of attacking quality despite falling short against one of the league’s strongest teams.
The victory capped a highly successful weekend for Police HC, who amassed an incredible 98 goals across their two matches while conceding only 70. Their consistency at both ends of the court continues to make them one of the teams to beat as the season approaches its decisive stages.

Nkajja respond in style
Earlier in the day, Nkajja HC demonstrated resilience and character by bouncing back from their heavy 48-27 defeat to Prisons HC on Saturday. Less than 24 hours later, they returned to the court determined to produce a response against Mbogo High School HC.
The result was a hard-fought 33-29 victory that showcased Nkajja’s ability to regroup quickly and compete under pressure.
Nkajja established control early in the contest, building an 18-12 halftime lead through disciplined defending and efficient finishing. Mbogo attempted to mount a comeback in the second half, but Nkajja maintained their composure and managed the game effectively to secure the four-goal win.
The victory was built on several standout individual performances. Shanitah Nuwaha and Mariam Mwenyango each scored nine goals, providing the attacking spark that Mbogo struggled to contain. Docus Masawi added seven goals, while Moureen Driciru contributed five in an impressive team effort.
Mbogo High School HC fought bravely throughout the contest and remained within touching distance for much of the second half. Venis Nalugo delivered an outstanding performance, finishing as the game’s top scorer with 13 goals. Rehema Aringu added six goals while Joseline Nakimera scored four, but their efforts were not enough to overturn Nkajja’s first-half advantage.
As the Women’s Super League enters its final stretch, every point is becoming increasingly valuable and beyond the results, Matchday 18 once again showcased the growing quality of women’s handball in Uganda. Across the two matches, fans witnessed 157 goals, numerous standout individual displays, and a level of competitiveness that continues to elevate the profile of the domestic game.
