Uganda Premier League newcomers Kigezi HomeBoyz have confirmed the signing of defender Benjamin Gakumba on a two-year deal.
The defender becomes the first acquisition of “The Gorillas” in the ongoing transfer window.
“Kigezi HomeBoyz FC are delighted to announce the signing of central defender Gakumba Benjamin on a two-year contract, making him the club’s first signing of the 2026/27 transfer window as preparations intensify for our historic maiden season in the Uganda Premier League,” the statement confirmed.
Gakumba moves to Kigezi HomeBoyz after the expiration of his contract at Express, where he barely played.
The player believes this is a move that will help him improve and cannot wait to get going.
“I am happy to join this club. I am in love with the culture here, I love the fans and the vision of the club. I look forward to achieving great things with this club. I thank the club management for this great opportunity in my career.”
The team recently appointed coach Joseph Harold Mutyaba to take charge of their debut top-flight season.
