Professor Florence Muranga Isabirye hands over Nutrition products to Husnah Kukundakwe

Uganda’s first batch of players and officials for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow city has left the country on Tuesday, 21st July.

The players and officials received yet another token of food products from Tooke, the main nutrition partner for the team.

This is the second batch of Tooke nutrition products given to the players in preparation for the games.

This was at the headquarters of Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) during a brief event also graced by the IOC member William Fredrick Blick, UOC vice president Moses Mwase, Nutrition ambassador Professor Rev. Florence Muranga Isabirye and retired long distance athlete Steven Kiprotich.

Some of the athletes present who received their packs were Netballers, Para-swimmers, Judo players, boxers and swimmers.

Judo, alongside 3X3 Basketball make their debut at the Commonwealth Games.

Team Uganda has 17 athletes, Judo (2 players), Swimmers (7 players), 2 para-swimmers, 1 track cyclist, 12 netballers and 1 weightlifter.

Athletics remains Uganda’s largest contingent at the Games, with a team of 17 athletes competing across middle and long-distance events, sprints, long jump and relay.

2. Judo – 2 Athletes (1 Female, 1 Male):

Judo will make its Commonwealth Games debut for Uganda, marking another milestone in the country’s sporting development.

The team will consist of:

  • One female athlete
  • One male athlete

3. Swimming – 7 Athletes (4 Male, 3 Female)

Uganda’s swimming team will feature seven athletes, combining young talent with international experience.

The She Cranes return to the Commonwealth Games after finishing fifth at Birmingham 2022.

Seven of the 12 players selected have previous Commonwealth Games experience.

Niyoyita enters the Games ranked second in Africa in his category.

Uganda’s Bombers team will feature six boxers.
