- Game 2: Uganda W v Namibia W
- Result: Namibia 123/7 beat Uganda 123/7 (Namibia won the Super Over)
Victoria Pearls failed to get past the hosts Namibia in the super over in a thriller, with the hosts prevailing on Day 2 of the Capricorn Series.
Uganda won the toss and elected to bowl again. Sarah Walaza made the early inroads, removing both openers, but some middle-order resistance from Diergaardt Arasta (36) and Wilka Mwatile (22) put some pressure on the bowling for Uganda.
Walaza (3/18) was outstanding with the ball, and the support came from Phiona Kulume (1/20), Consy Aweko (1/19) and Sarah Akiteng (1/36) among the wickets as well. The hosts finished on a modest 123/7 in their quota of 20 overs.
In the run chase, Janet Mbabazi (20) and Stephanie Nampiina (20) put on an opening stand of 40, and the responsibility of the chase was on Proscovia Alako (44), whose aggressive style kept Uganda within the required rate.
However, the run chase got derailed when the set batters got dismissed, with the momentum shifting in favour of the hosts. Esther Iloku nearly got Uganda over the line with some valiant batting at the end, but she could only get eight runs of the required nine runs and that sent the game into the dreaded super over.
In the super over, Uganda managed to find 12 runs with the help of Proscovia Alako, who was able to get 6 of the 12 runs. Consy Aweko had the responsibility of bowling in the super over, but she could not keep Wilka Mwatile and Sune Wittman as the hosts won a thrilling game.
Victoria Pearls fell to the hosts in their second game of the series after picking up a win against Hong Kong China in their first game.
The girls take a break on Thursday and will be back in action on Friday against their fellow East African neighbours, Tanzania.
