Uganda Premier League side Kitara has welcomed goalkeeper, Ivan Akena in the ongoing transfer window.
The development has been confirmed today, Monday, July 27, 2026 via the club’s official website.
“Ivan Akera completes a return to Kitara. Akera is back at Kitara after five years,” the statement partly reads.
The custodian put pen on a two-year employment contract that will keep him at the club until July, 2028. He joins as a free transfer from Al Hilal FC.
Average was part of the Kitara squad that was promoted to the Uganda Premier League for the first time in the 2020/21 season, after beating Kiboga Young at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
He has previously played for clubs such as Bweyale United and South Sudan’s Al Hilal FC.
Akera will face tough competition from Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa and Meddie Kibirige who was the club’s first choice last season.
