Nkumba University returns to continental sports competition with the female football team for the 12th Federation of African University Sports (FASU) Games in Cairo, Egypt.

Professor Jude Lubega, the Vice Chancellor for Nkumba University, officially flagged off the team, urging them to play gallantly as they are carrying the Nkumba University and Uganda national flags.

“We are highly confident that our ladies can perform exceptionally on the football pitch, which heavily motivates us to invest in them. Represent the university with pride and diligence,” Professor Lubega called.

The same flag-off event was also graced by the University Secretary Francis Ssengendo and Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr Sulaiman Bbosa.

Nkumba University will face opposition from the host country, Egypt, Botswana, Kenya and Nigeria.

Dr Sulaiman Bbosa travelled as head of delegation. The other officials include: Director of Female Affairs, Dr Anne Abaho (director of female affairs), Dr Joseph Muyiira (sports tutor) and head coach John Brosad Atwijuka.

Busitema University is the other Ugandan representative who took 15 athletes in Tennis, Chess and Athletics.

The 12th FASU Games will run until 16th September 2026.
