Uganda Premier League side, NEC FC have handed goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo a major vote of confidence by securing his services on a long-term contract extension.

The development was confirmed today, Monday, August 10, 2026 via the club’s official website.

“NEC FC is delighted to announce that goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo has signed a new three-year contract, extending his stay with the Diehards until 2029,” the statement partly reads.

The decision reinforces the club’s commitment to retaining one of its most essential figures as they build toward competing for top honours in the Uganda Premier League and domestic knockout competitions.

Since arriving at the club in mid-2024, Ssebwalunyo has transformed into an indispensable presence both on and off the pitch.

Serving as vice-captain, the commanding custodian quickly established himself as the team’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper through a series of outstanding individual campaigns, earning key club and league accolades along the way.

Beyond his shot-stopping reliability and leadership in the dressing room, Ssebwalunyo has developed a reputation for his contributions at both ends of the pitch.

Known for his aerial dominance and exceptional penalty-saving record, he has also stepped up to convert crucial penalties himself during key league encounters, making him one of the most versatile goalkeepers in the league.

Expressing his enthusiasm after committing his future to the Diehards, Ssebwalunyo emphasised his desire to bring major silverware to the club.

With the cornerstone of their defence now firmly locked down, NEC FC steps into the upcoming campaign with clear stability between the posts and ambitious goals for the future.
