Vipers skipper Milton Karisa insists Venoms are built for pressure as the new season kicks off today against Entebbe UPPC.
The game will be played at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo as the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League campaign gets underway.
Milton Karisa has laid down the marker ahead of Vipers SC’s season opener, declaring that the Kitende side thrives under the weight of high expectations.
The Venoms captain believes the squad’s pre-season preparation and established camaraderie have primed them to target nothing less than maximum points right out of the gate.
“Finally, we are starting the league, and the coaches have prepared us well. We have worked together smoothly in the previous games,” Karisa said in the press conference.
Vipers enter the campaign facing their usual mandate: win convincingly and challenge for silverware on all fronts.
However, Karisa is adamant that the pressure accompanying the captain’s armband and the club’s lofty ambitions will not derail their focus.
“We are all ready to start the season on a high and collect maximum points. I believe there is always pressure, and at Vipers, we are used to it,” the Uganda Cranes winger added.
“We are professional footballers, so we have to be ready to work despite the pressure. I don’t think it will affect us.”
The St. Mary’s Stadium outfit has undergone intensive preparations in the off-season to sharpen their tactical edge.
Karisa emphasised that the responsibility now lies squarely on the players to translate that hard work into results on the pitch.
“We shall try and give our best to see that we collect maximum points,” Karisa stated. “It’s upon us to deliver, and I am glad we are pushed to deliver at the highest of levels.”
