Golf and Rugby are two unique parallel sports disciplines that many personalities aspire to take on.
Whereas Rugby demands athletic and physical attributes of an athlete while surging forward a run with that oval-shaped ball, golf calls for endurance to walk the entire course, accuracy to hit the small ball, calmness and precision as one targets the pin.
One teenager Calvin Paul Muliika Mpungu, a student at Kings College Budo has perfected those two aforementioned sports.

Mpungu is fit and best suited for these two sports as he has already proven to be an integral part of the winning Kings College Budo Rugby and Golf teams.
For three successive years, Kings College Budo golf team has won the national inter-schools golf championship at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa; and Mpungu has played a crucial role.
In the same vein, he is part of the Rugby Team that engages in Schools’ Rugby under the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) calendar events.

On how he manages to balance these two games, Mpungu cites a strict adherence to the schedules at hand.
“I train aggressively for both Rugby and Golf. There is always enough time for both disciplines,” Mpungu acknowledges.
He lauds the effort of the teams’ coaches and teammates for the collective effort put together.

“I thank my coaches in both Rugby and Golf for the team put together. In the same spirit, I salute my teammates in these two sports for the encouragement and team effort,” he adds.
Mpungu’s golfing skills were inspired and honed by his father, William Mpungu, an ardent handicapped golfer who is also a staff at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa.

Mpungu junior aspires for big ambitions on either interface to play both Rugby and Golf professionally.
