Bugembe Stadium is set to host the 5th edition of the Kyabazinga 7s on September 12-13.
The Walukuba Barbarians, who are the defending champions of the Kyabazinga 7s, are hosting the tournament alongside the Walukuba Titans, who are playing only their second season in the National 7s.
At the launch of the tournament, Simon Peter Waiswa, the club chairman of the Barbarians, expressed excitement at hosting the tournament.
“It is always a pleasure to host Kyabazinga 7s at Bugembe Stadium. Having it for the 5th time means a lot for the club and our partner, the Busoga Kingdom,” Waiswa noted.
At the Kyabazinga 7s, culture meets sport as 8 women’s and 12 men’s teams descend upon the historical Kingdom of Busoga this weekend.
“This tournament is intended to celebrate the coronation of our King. Having this tournament is reason enough for the people of Busoga to celebrate. Additionally, it is an honour for our club to organise the tournament alongside the Kingdom,” Waiswa notes with pride.
No team has been able to defend the Kyabazinga 7s title since its inception, a fact that feeds into the trend of the 2026 Men’s National 7s, where we have had 4 different winners.
