Alpha Thierry Ssali is optimistic Express FC will do well in this ongoing season but asks for patience from the fans.

The Red Eagles have started the season slowly with two defeats and one win in three matches but the fans have been impressed by the works so far as Morley Byekwaso steers the club back to its glory days.

Ssali, in his second spell at the club after he re-joined the side from KCCA while speaking to Pitch Side, called for patience.

“Express is looking good,” said Ssali who has featured in all three matches this season.

“We have a few experienced players and so many young talented players have come into the team.

“We are going to need time because you know, in the premier league, there are so many teams with a lot of experience and have been together longer than us,” he explained.

Despite so, the former national team youth winger says the energy around the group is good.

“We have to get to know each other but there is good energy around the team and we are optimistic of good performances this campaign.”

Ssali also has strong praise for Byekwaso who he described as very good tactical.

“I think he is the right coach for the club. He is very good and tactical and I enjoy working with him.”

Ssali and Express return to action on Thursday when they host Kitara at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo under the lights and he has set personal and team goals as well.

“On a personal note, I want to score as many goals as possible. Create goals as well, track back etc. But most importantly, I want to fight for the club and see them get back where they belong. Regardless of what they have been through, Express is a big team.”
