The battle for the TotalEnergies AFCON U-20 rages on in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with the semifinal battles coming up this Tuesday, 22nd September 2026, at the Uhuru Stadium.
This followed the successful completion of the group stage matches where four countries advanced to the semifinals.
The hosts Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Sudan are all through to the last four stage.
The early kick-off on Tuesday pits Uganda against Sudan at half past noon.
This will be a repeat of the Group B clash played on Saturday, where Uganda gritted its teeth to overcome Sudan 1-0 courtesy of Amour Munogera’s goal.
Uganda topped Group B with the maximum six points, 5 goals scored and 1 conceded.
“We finished the group stages are done, and now planning for the knockouts. We face Sudan again. They were a good side technically,” Laryea Kingstone, Uganda’s U-20 head coach, spoke moments after the group encounter.
The other semifinal has hosts Tanzania against Burundi.
Tanzania, like Uganda, also finished with a maximum six points, with 7 goals scored and none conceded.
Burundi topped Group C with maximum points.
The two winners of the semifinal clashes will qualify for the final tournament to be staged in Ghana.
