The CECAFA U-17 Championship draw was held at the lavish Azam Studios in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026.
CECAFA Competitions head Yusuf Mossi was the draw supervisor, hosted by famous presenter Patrick Nyembeera.
Juma Ladaki Chasambi, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) from the inaugural edition of the championship, conducted the entire draw of 10 participating countries.
Group A:
Hosts Rwanda are in Group A with Sudan, Somalia and South Sudan.
Group B:
Uganda, Ethiopia and Burundi are in Group B.
Group C:
Tanzania, Djibouti and Kenya are in Group C.
The tournament will be held in Kigali, Rwanda, from 10th to 19th October 2026.
The Kigali Pele Stadium and the FERWAFA Grounds will host the ten-day championship.
The opening matchday will be on 10th October 2026. Matchday two will be on 12th October 2026, and matchday three on 14th October 2026.
The top teams after the group stages will progress to the semifinals alongside the best second-placed country.
Three countries will advance to the main finals at a venue yet to be decided by the CAF Executive Committee.

- B: Uganda, Ethiopia, Burundi
- C: Tanzania, Djibouti, Kenya
