Vipers Junior Team retained the FUFA Junior League title after securing a hard-fought 3–2 victory over URA JT in a thrilling final at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, on Sunday.
The five-goal spectacle saw both sides go toe-to-toe in a high-stakes encounter, with URA JT taking an early lead in the seventh minute when Emmanuel Obula tapped home Pascelo Kayiwa’s well-placed cross.
Vipers responded in the 28th minute when team captain Ashraf Kyakuwa, who was later named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), restored parity with a composed finish.
Ten minutes into the second half, Jonah Tugume completed the turnaround for Vipers, firing the Kitende-based side into the lead.
Vipers doubled their advantage four minutes later through Trevor Mubiru, seizing control of the match and placing one hand on the trophy.
URA JT refused to go down without a fight and pulled a goal back in the 77th minute through Anderson Ssesazi to set up a tense finale.
Despite the Junior Tax Collectors throwing everything forward in search of an equalizer, Vipers’ defense held firm through closing minutes to seal the championship victory.
