Uganda Cranes beat Libya 1-0 at the Hoima City Stadium during Group H of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
Forward Arnold Vula Lamb Luth scored the all-important goal in the second of the three added minutes, on the stroke of half-time.
The big forward who turns out for Beerschit VA in the Belgian Challenger Pro League headed past Libyan goalkeeper Ayman Altihar off Allan Okello’s well delivered free-kick for a goal on his debut.
After the game, Uganda Cranes head coach Joseph Paul Put sung special praise of the 27-year-old forward.
“He is a kind of player who can score a goal from nothing” Put opened up.
“Last year, he scored 15 goals for his club and as a striker recorded 7 assists, it is a lot. I have been following him for a long time (not because he is playing in Belgium).” He added.
“It is a good opportunity to have him in our team and he will keep improving. You need to have luck by your side as a coach to bring in a player and he scores” the Belgian born coach remarked.
Libya had two chances in the game not converted; apparently all falling to one player, Ezzeddin Elmaremi.
He was denied by Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango from close range in the 23rd minute and missed tapping into an empty net during the closing stages of the game.
Uganda now leads Group H with 4 points following the opening day away 1-all draw with Tunisia.
Botswana and Tunisia meanwhile played to a 2-all draw; as both have 2 points apiece.

Match day three of the qualifiers shall witness Uganda Cranes host Botswana on 11th November 2026 in Hoima.
On the same day, Tunisia shall entertain Libya in Tunis.
Three days later, Botswana shall host Uganda in Gaborone and Libya will play-host to Tunisia in Tripoli.
