Uganda Premier League 2020-21 (Match Day 18) – Saturday, 17th April 2021 Results:

  • UPDF 4-2 Kyetume
  • MYDA 0-3 Soltilo Bright Stars
  • Wakiso Giants 2-0 Onduparaka
  • Express 1-1 Mbarara City
  • Busoga United 2-1 Police

Despite playing for the entire second half with 10 men, Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) humbled visiting Kyetume 4-2 at the Military Barracks Stadium in Bombo on Saturday,17th April 2021.

This was during match day 18 of the Star Times Uganda Premier League.

The visitors took an early lead through Ezra Kizito Kaye in the opening 60 seconds of the game.

The army side however reacted swiftly, replying through James Begisa in the 8th minute.

Two minutes later, the “Ssisi Kwa Ssisi” christened side were once again celebrating through Christopher Kamagu and later Sam Kintu as the first half ended 3-1 in favour of the hosts.

Kintu was sent off for a second bookable offence by center referee Siraje Mpyangu towards the end of the first stanza to grant numerical advantage to the Slaughters.

Alex Kitata, who is popularly known as Benzema made it four in the 64th minute.

Steven Kabuye reduced the goal margin with Kyetume’s second goal in the 73rd minute.

Besides the two cautions for Kintu, UPDF also had midfielder Ibrahim Wamannah and Begisa booked as well.

Army side defender Joseph Bright Vuni was named the pilsner man of the match.

After suffering a 3-0 loss away to fellow forces side Police at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, UPDF smiled back to winning ways.

UPDF accumulates 28 points as they are in 7th position on the 16 team log.

On the other hand, Kyetume remains grounded in relegation docket with just 13 points from 18 matches in the 13th place.

Meanwhile, Soltilo Bright Stars humbled MYDA 3-0 away in Tororo at the King George IV memorial stadium.

MYDA ended the game with 10 men after a red card to Paul Musamali. Soltilo Bright Stars scored through Joseph Akandanahwo, Joseph Janjali and Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte.

Express and 10 man Mbarara City shared the spoils 1-all at the Betway Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium.

Martin Kizza Lubwama gave Express the lead before Mbarara City who had lost defender Ronald Otti (through second booking) leveled matters through Henry Kitegenyi.

At the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, Busoga United scored a last minute gasp winner against Police to triumph 2-1.

Paul Ssekulima had given Busoga United the lead before Herman Wasswa Nteza found the equalizer.

Franco Onen, a roving right back then found the winner in the second minute of added time.

Wakiso Giants smiled past Onduparaka 2-0 at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in Wakiso.
