Uganda’s ladies golf team will miss out at the All Africa golf challenge if they fail to raise 31 million shillings to enable them play in the prestigious tournament that is slated for next month in Gabarone,Botswana.

According to the Uganda Ladies Golf Union, the national team needs $13,000(31m) to enable the side embark on playing in one of the most prime tournaments in Africa.

The ULGU in efforts to raise that money to airlift the team are organising a fund raiser this Saturday at the par 72 Kitante golf course. Eighteen corporate companies have registered to enter teams in the one day tournament that will golfers playing in teams and individuals playing for various honours.

The companies that have entered include Nile Breweries,Ultra Uganda,Kampala Casino,Nettis Uganda,Eaton Towers,Nyumbani,Tassu Uganda,Sheraton Hotel,Adrift Uganda,UAP,ICEA,Ladies Section,Pepsi,MultiChoice,Sadolin Paints,MTN,Ugarose,Ferdsult,Augustus Caesar University  and Ericsson. Uganda Ladies Golf Union is expecting more corporate companies to register before the close of entries on Friday.

Uganda will field a team that is made up of Flavia Namakula,Eva Magala, Jasper Kamukama and the ULGU president Rose Musoke together with Trustee Monica Ntege.

The tournament runs from June 2-11 in the Southern Africa nation last year Uganda’s team finished fifth out of 18 nations.
