Local squash governing body Uganda Squash Rackets Association, is eyeing for a better season this year according to their chairman JB Tamwesigire.

“The squash association is looking for a better season as we line up several events in the year,” Tamwesigire said recently. “The biggest hurdle that we face is the lack of funding and that is a general problem to several sports like us.”

The national squash team off Michael Kawooya,Ian Rukunya Kajubu,Paul Kadoma and Brian Okumu missed out on the All Africa squash championships recently in Gabarone,Botswana.

“Our mission has always been to give opportunity to the youth and also spreading the sport in schools,” Tamwesigire said. “The association has several local and international tournaments lined up for our senior players.”

USRA has lined up Castrol Mogas tournament next month,Castle Lite Squash Open, Saint Lucia Squash Open and Parklands Squash Open in Kenya.

 The association is looking for funds to send a team for the Saint Lucia Squash Open in June.
