President Museveni impressed with Woodball Progress in Uganda

The President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is impressed with the trend by which the game of woodball is progressing in the country.

On a guided tour at the plant manufacturing woodball equipment at Ndejje University, the number one citizen bought off some time to practice the game similar to golf.

The Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) is delighted by the special time the president accorded them when visited Ndejje University to officially open the Noah’s Ark Hostel constructed by Mityana Diocese.

“To host the president was memorable and it was a remarkable step in having the Team compete at the 7^th World Cup Woodball Championship 2016 in Korea Republic.” an official statement released by John Baptist Kateregga reads.

The Federation’s good working relationship with the President dates back to 2010 when he was represented by then Vice President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya as Chief Guest at the 3^rd World University Woodball Championship hosted at Munyonyo.

In 2012, he partly sponsored the Team to the 5^th World Cup Woodball Championship in Malaysia and in 2014 he offered 25 return tickets to Team Uganda to the 6^th World Cup Woodball Championship in Sanya, China.

Prior to trying out Woodball, H.E welcomed back the successful Team Uganda from the 5^th World Cup Woodball Championship and the 4^th World University Woodball Championship in China and Malaysia respectively.

He sponsored the Team to both events. Adupa Joel, a bronze medalist in Malaysia, got the honor of receiving his medal from the president who was very impressed with the Team’s success at international level.

Adupa was one of the few sportsmen recognized by Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) for the month of October.

The USPA October award was won by cricket Cranes all rounder, Roger Mukasa, who guided the team’s slot for the World Cricket League Division 2.
