Maroons secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Calvary in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Midigo P/S Ground on Tuesday.
The hosts started on the front foot with Junior Ojok starting a great counter as he beat his markers for pace, but his final effort was lacking.
In the 12th minute, Asaba nearly gave the hosts the lead after dancing past his marker but his powerful effort went slightly over the bar.
Maroons kept on the front foot, but Brian Nkuubi’s powerful shot went slightly above the frame.
With two minutes to the half-hour mark, Asaba finally got the ball into the back of the net as Maroons’ early charge finally paid off.
Calvary nearly made an instant response as Emmanuel Loki released Lawrence Olaboro put the goalkeeper, Simon Tamale made a great save.
With five minutes left to end the opening stanza, Calvary were awarded a free kick in a promising area but Junior Emmanuel Ojok placed his free kick over the bar.
In the 56th minute, Hadji Shukuru made a massive save to deny Maroons a chance to double their lead.
Ten minutes later, Ojok nearly levelled matters for the hosts but goalkeeper Tamale pulled off a stunning save once again.
The victory takes Maroons to the ninth position with 25 points in 20 games while Calvary lie bottom of the table with five points.
