Edwin Ekiring returns to Uganda today to take part in the Ugandan badminton international for the first time in four years.

The last time he was here it was in 2011 and he lost in the first round.

“I believe this is my year,” Ekiring told kawowo sports “Am in fine form, been training with the Dutch national team thrice a week, something that has improves me every day,” he added.

Edwin has commanded respect on the continent winning titles in Nigeria, Kenya, Mauritius, Zambia and Botswana.

Winning the Ugandan International will be a remarkable achievement.

“I have won titles elsewhere, but winning a home championship in front of my home crowd will be sweeter than all the other titles have won,” Ekiring said.

The titles Ekiring talks about have elevated him to number one on the continent, a position he held in 2011, 2012 and a better part of 2013.

He lost the number one status in the evening of 2013 and in the first part half of 2014 but reclaimed it in September last year.

Ekiring will be seeded seventh at the tournament that starts this Friday till Sunday.
