Morocco’s FAR Rabat has eliminated defending champions Pyramids of Morocco following a 2-1 victory in Cairo on Saturday.

With the reverse fixture ending in a 1-1 draw in Rabat a week ago, the champions were expected to make home advantage count at the June 30th stadium.

However, FAR Rabat took an early lead through Reda Salim in the 10th minute following a swift counter attack which left the home crowd stunned.

Ten minutes after the break, Reda Salim then turned provider as his delivery from the corner was turned home by a powerful header from Rabie El Harimat to make 2-0.

It was surely game over at this moment despite Fiston Mayele pulling one back for the hosts despite but not enough to earn a comeback win.

On the same day, record holders Al Ahly were also ejected by Tunisian giants Esperance des Tunis in Cairo with the visitors winning a five-goal thriller by 3-2 to advance 4-2 on aggregate as they also won the first leg 1-0 at home.
