SC Villa head coach Zeljko Kovacevic has played down his side’s indecent record against KCCA ahead of the titanic clash at Fufa stadium, Kadiba on Saturday.

The Jogoos have performed abysmally against the Kasasiro in the recent past with only two league victories in 26 meetings since 2012.

In that era, KCCA have won 15 including the reverse fixture in the first round at Namboole when the Serbian was in charge.

“I don’t think the past matches matter,” he said when reminded of the history. “Just this season, we have played three times, won one, lost one and drawn one against KCCA,” he added.

“For me, all we need is to do better on Saturday and that is all that matters for now.”

Villa beat KCCA enroute to winning the Fufa Super 8 and Saturday’s meeting will be the fourth time this season the two giants clash.

Kovacevic also hinted that the preparations for this particular game have been special paying attention to every detail as KCCA is a side with good individual players.

“For this game, we have prepared in some special way because it is a Kampala derby. It is very important game for us because we need to win and stay in contention for the league.

“We know KCCA has very good individual players and we need to analyze everything and we have tried to prepare for every detail.”

In the reverse fixture, Umar Lutalo scored a last-minute free kick to hand Kovacevic and Villa defeat on day one but instead, the Serbian has opted to dwell on the positives from that game.

“We lost in the last minute from a free kick but we played a good game and missed some good 5-6 chances and for that reason, we need to improve and I see improvement in every game.”

Villa will have forwards Charles Lwanga and Frank Ssebuufu back after they missed the Uganda Cup quarter final game away to Happy Boyz but are sweating over the fitness of midfield enforcer Misi Diego Ssemugera.
