Matchday 4: Great Lakes T20 League

  • Morning: Kyoga Avengers 159/5 beat Mburo Blasters 155/7 by 5 wickets
  • Afternoon: Victoria Strikers 120/5 beat Bunyonyi Warriors 116 all out by 5 wickets

Victoria Strikers finally got a win on Matchday 4 of the Great Lakes Men’s T20 tournament. Kenneth Waiswa and his charges showed great character in the run chase against Bunyonyi Warriors.

Bunyonyi Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first. Pius Oloka continued his form with the ball, picking up 3/9 in his quota of four and also took another brilliant catch that got rid of the very dangerous Anas Baig.

Bunyonyi Warriors posted a small total that never troubled the Victoria Strikers in the chase once they made sure they didn’t lose the initiative up front.

Kenneth Waiswa (35) played a great hand for his team and got some support from player of the match Pius Oloka (23 not out).

In the morning, the high-scoring Mburo Blasters were stopped by Kyoga Avengers.

Kyoga Avengers won the toss and elected to bowl first. Charles Mushemeza (54) brought up his second half-century of the tournament and, together with Suleiman Sharif (41), helped Mburo Blasters post 157/7.

In response, Olipa Gerald (48), Robert Owili (36), and Cyrus Kakuru made strong contributions up front, with Juma Miyaji applying the finish with a useful 31 off 15 balls to seal the win inside 17 overs.

The win keeps Kyoga Avengers at the top of the table and also keeps their unbeaten record so far. They are the only team not to win a game.

The runs continue to flow at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, with the dry conditions providing a quick outfield to aid the runs galore.

On Matchday five in the morning, Bunyonyi Warriors take on Mburo Blasters while Victoria Strikers take on Kyoga Avengers.
