5th Airtel Rising Stars U-17 Football Tournament:
Finals:
- Girls: East Vs Buganda – Noon to 1:00 p.m
- Boys: Kampala Vs Kitara – 2:00 p.m
After a grueling national qualification process and the preliminary stage at the national grand finals in Mbarara, the closing games at the 2015 Airtel Rising Stars shall be played at Kakyeka stadium on Saturday.
Whereas the teams for girls’ final have already been determined (East and Buganda), the two boys’ teams are yet to know their feat.
Kampala qualified to the finals at the expense of Buganda courtesy of Faizo Ssekyanzi strike.
Buganda submitted in a complaint questioning the eligibility of Ssekyanzi, who is believed to be featuring in the Kampala Region League.
Hamidu Kasozi, a Buganda official clarifies;
Rules at ARS are very clear, no Big League, Premier League or Regional League player is allowed in such tournaments and Kampala is using one. We have lodged in our complaint
The second semi final between North and Kitara was decided through spot kicks on Saturday morning following a one all draw in normal time and the penalties could not be taken on Friday due to darkness.
In the shoot outs, Kitara won 6-5 to book a second successive final slot.
Airtel Rising Stars national coordinator, Patrick Ogwel has hailed the commitment of the teams taking part in the event.
We thank our sponsors (Airtel Uganda), the teams, regional coordinators, FUFA Technical team and the players. Everyone has a contribution and it is helpful to football development
