Iringa Rally will be making a comeback to the Tanzania National Rally Championship series after ten years.

The Mkwawa Drinking Pure Water sponsored event comes as the second round of this year’s TNRC. The rally is scheduled for April 21-22, in Iringa.

The two-day event will have seven stages covering a total distance of 149.17 kilometres.

Ahmed Huwel, a native from Iringa as well as the event sponsor promises the best organisation and competition.

“We are trying to ensure that Iringa is the best event this season. The organisers have chosen the best roads for the crews to enjoy the event.

“Even the fans are not forgotten. We know Iringa had the biggest rally fan base. So well demarcated spectators stages are put in place.

“The district of Iringa is so much willing to work with us and the people are so excited about the event. We want the event to justify its comeback,” Huwel said.

Entry and accommodation has been made free for all the crews to ensure they enjoy the event.

Home boy Huwel will also debut his newly acquired Ford Fiesta Proto; first of the kind in Tanzania.

Shaun Miller was the last driver to win the Iringa Rally in 2007.

Meanwhile, Gerald Miller currently leads the TNRC standings followed by Gurpal Sandhu and Dharam Pandya.
