2016/17 Uganda Beach Soccer League:
- Final: MUBS 8-6 Muteesa I Royal University
- Top Scorer: Benson Ocen (MUBS)
- MVP: Paul Lule (Muteesa I Royal University)

Uganda Beach Soccer League 2016-17 top scorer and winner, Benson Ocen is elated by the double feat.
Ocen top scored in the league (with 33 goals) to guide Makerere University Business School (MUBS) to their third national title since the league inception in 2009.
In an exclusive interview with Kawowo Sports at Lido Beach in Entebbe shortly after his club’s 8-6 triumph over a hard fighting Muteesa I Royal University outfit, Ocen disclosed his delight upon the achievement.
First, I am excited having won the National Beach Soccer League for now 3 times. I give the glory back to God.
Then, being the overall top scorer, I am more than happy. I thank the rest of my teammates and the club management for the collective effort.

He cites continuous team work and dedication from the rest of his playing mates, coaches and the university administration.
Ocen, a marksman with Police Football Club in the Uganda Premier League is mesmerized by the drastic growth of the game.
Beach Soccer has come a long way.
The game has grown from one step to another and I believe with time, we shall reach to the peak.
He calls upon government assistance, the federation helping hand and other stake holders in developing the available facilities for the Beach Soccer or setting up many new ones as well.
Beach Soccer is not doing well as far as facilities are concerned.
We need better facilities. I urge all stake holders to join the struggle and make the game better.

Ocen scored a brace during the well cheered and attended final against Mutesa I Royal University.
Isma Kawawulo and Elvis Kasujja also netted two times apiece for the Nakawa based institution as well as Primo Kimera’s own goal.
Muteesa’ goals came from skipper Kimera (2), Julius Rulinda (2), Paul Kato and the league most valuable player (MVP), Paul Lule.
MUBS has won the national beach soccer trophy thrice in 2011/12, 2014/2015 and lately 2016/2017.
