Orlando Pirates head coach Kjell Jonevret has thrown in the towel following a spell of 7 months at the helm.

Jonevret tendered his resignation on Wednesday thanking the Chairman of Orlando Pirates, Dr Irvin Khoza, the Club and its supporters for giving him an opportunity to coach the Club.
Mr Jonevret told the club’s official website: “I would like to thank the Club for the opportunity. Unfortunately it didn’t work out as planned. I wish the Club and its supporters all the best for the future.”

His resignation follows speculation that former Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic could take over after terminating his employment contract with the football governing body FUFA.

Micho who quit after citing non payment of salaries to the tune of $54,000 has been heavily linked to Pirates since his departure on Saturday and it is yet to be known whether his change of his twitter bio from “Uganda Cranes head coach” to “Head Coach of ……….” really meant a return for a second stint.
Jonevret’s journey
Jonevret managed Djurgårdens IF between 2004 and 2006. During his time in Djurgården, he led his team to the double, winning both the Allsvenskan and the Swedish cup in 2005.[3][4]
He was hired as the manager for Molde FK in December 2006, but left the club in August 2010. He was appointed manager of South African team Orlando Pirates in February 2017.
