Uganda’s hottest boxing property Shariff “The Lion Warrior” Bogere has risen to number 14 in the latest World Boxing Council ratings in the lightweight division.
Bogere, the WBO/NABO lightweight champion has risen from number 20 to his current position after winning and maintaining his unbeaten streak with a somewhat controversial win over Dominican fighter Francisco Contreras in October.
Bogere, has been on a six fight winning streak that has seen him take out llido Julio,Julian Rodriquez,Christopher Fernandez,Shamir Reyes, Raymundo Beltran to win the vacant WBO/NABO lightweight belt and then defend it against Contreras which has pushed him close to a world title fight next year.
The Las Vegas based fighter is promoted by boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya, under his promotional company Golden Boy Promotions he becomes the second Ugandan fighter to fight under this boxing promotion the other was the former IBF light middleweight champion Kassim “The Dream” Ouma.
Bogere has 21 wins and 13 KOS in his career.
