Africa’s top badminton player Edwin Ekiring has stormed the finals of the South Africa International going on in Pretoria.
The Eindhoven based Ugandan player will play Portugal’s Pedro Martins in tomorrow’s final it will be the Ekiring’s final in a space of two weeks after claiming the Botswana International last week.
The All Africa games badminton silver medalist is using the badminton tour to gaining points for him to qualify for next year’s summer Olympics in London. Ekiring is ranked 101 in the world and if he wins the South Africa international it will earn him 2,500 points and shot his ranking further up he needs to break into the top 100 to guarantee his position at the summer Olympic games.
Ekiring has so far played in the Yonex Dutch Open,Ethiopia International,Bitburger Open,Norwegian International and Botswana International.
