Local tennis body ULTA has launched a five year tennis grassroots program for tennis players from the age of 4-17 years.

The program was launched on Saturday by the chairman of the Uganda Lawn Tennis Association Cedric Babu and various sponsors of the program who will get their funding from Kinetic Trust.
“This program aims to create a center of tennis excellence and
also will develop well rounded individuals through tennis,who can become junior world class ranking players by 2016,” Babu said at the launch at Lugogo tennis center. “The long term objective of this program is to provide talented tennis players the opportunity to acquire sports scholarships to colleges and universities throughout the world.”
The program will run for six days a week with various coaches involved in the program they include John Oduke, Patrick Luyinda, Robert Buyinza, Edward Odokoken, Joseph Lutaaya, James Odong, John Kasule and Jelena Zimonjic.
The program has received support from Roko Construction, Game, Victoria University, Rwenzori, Graphic systems and the Uganda Charity Trust Fund.
