North African Boxing Organisation lightweight champion and WBO number three Shariff “The Lion Warrior” Bogere is ripe for a world title eliminator according to Uganda Professional Boxing Commission president Celestino Mindra.
“He has built a record for himself and now he is in the right position to fight for a world title eliminator,” Mindra, told Kawowo sport. “I would want him to fight for a WBC world title fight, but apparently his lineage in with WBO so maybe he can challenge for the lightweight title in this boxing body.”
Bogere is ranked number 3 by the World Boxing Organisation and number 18 in the World Boxing Council in the lightweight division.
The Las Vegas based prize fighter is poised to challenge for a world title fight this year however it is early to know which world champion he will be challenging in the year. “He has a good management team around him and they have nurtured him well, but at the same time he is a good listener and is highly regarded in his division,” Mindra, who is a member of the WBC ratings committee said. “I believe his moment has arrived and we should see him become a world champion for Uganda.”
