With two games so far played in the second round of the Bell super league season, Fire Masters’ legendary coach Leo Addra has set surviving the drop as his ultimate target. “We didn’t perform well in the first round which was bad but we hope for the best in the second”, said Adra.
Its worth noting that the Fire Fighters did finish round one in the relegation and whether they improve on their position in the second round is something the former U-23 and SCOUL coach believes is possible. “We aim at surviving relegation and this must start now. We did play well against KCC F.C last weekend but were unlucky not to take maximum points. We missed a penalty and had a legitimate goal ruled offside by the match officials”, he added refering to the 0-0 draw with KCC in which Asiki Charles’ last gasp penalty was saved by Wakabu Godfrey at Kavumba Recreation ground – the team’s home.
In boasting his chances of survival, the club has acquired the services of defender Constantine Muziba (Masaka L.c), Ongodia Simon (Zebra), Utoda Alex (KJT), Ssentongo Gerald (trainee) and custodian Justus Emma (trainee). The club has also released Olema Hamza, Ggabula Micheal, custodian Lukungu, Kyaligonza Julius and lost Kiwalabye Dalausi to a Kenyan club.
