The President of the Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation faction Godfrey Nyakana has today threatened to sue the National Council of Sports if they go ahead to block the National Boxing Open slated for this Sunday February 5th at the gymnasium of the National Council of Sports complex.
“We need to promote this game to the heights it weighed back then, but this has been halted by a few individuals in the Sports administration at the top level thus pushing the sport to the doldrums” Nyakana cited. “We will go ahead to organize the National Open but in case National Council of Sports intervenes in our preparations we set to opt for court intervention, because Casablanca already sent us the invitations” He further explained.
Adding that; “It’s now two months less to the last August Olympics qualification campaign in Morocco down in Casablanca, now look we are in wrangles instead of setting our pugilists ready, we need to stop these wrangles and get to set the stage right. I do welcome Rogers Ddungu’s calling for a dialogue in boxing if he is calling this in a good faith”.
If it goes by the planning of Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation UABF this Sunday to organize the National Open, it’s from this event were boxers will be selected for the Morocco qualifiers were UABF claims to have received the invitations.
