Boxing team beam with confidence after Flag-off

Six Uganda boxers have today been flagged off by the president of Uganda Amateur boxing federation Godfrey Nyakana to the Inter-Cities boxing championship which will kick off this Thursday February 23 before winding up on Sunday 26. This happened after their morning training at Kampala boxing club under their team coach Lawrence Kalyango.

The pugilists qualified for the Inter-Cities championship after the National Open that was organized at the East coast club of Ntinda a fortnight ago. This championship

is scheduled every year rotating from different cities with in the region.

Umar Mutebi Light fly 49kg of Rhino club, Emmy Nsubuga Bantam 56kgs from Zana boxing club, Martin OkayiBisima 64kgs from Bisima Boxing club, Godfrey Nyeko Middle weight 75kgs from Kampala boxing club, Dennis Mulindwa light heavy 81kgs fighter from Gulu boxing club and light fly Rogers Semitala with 52kgs are some of the boxers who promised medals to the nation at the flag-off.

“The boys are well prepared for the intercity boxing championship, their confidence and dexterity to hoop down opponents I believe despite having a few boxers with me now, we are returning with the medals from Nairobi” Reverberated Lawrence before departure.

The Uganda amateur boxing president, Godfrey Nyakana flagged off the boxing contingent of ten that was led by Ssalongo Sebikejje Rhinos boxing club chairman they left with the memorandum of keeping Uganda flag at the pinnacle.

“Talent prevails in Uganda the boys can’t let us down they have the pewter of performing at the high level they just need our prayers” Optimistic Nyakana spoke unruffled.

Uganda won the latter intercity boxing championship in Kampala Muyonyo they traveled to Nairobi with an errand of defending their title that was won in Kampala last year, next year intercity will be hosted by Tanzania.
