
Local body Uganda Badminton Association has unanimously voted prominent Kampala lawyer Oscar Kambona as there new chairman at there elective assembly held at Lugogo Indoor stadium this morning.
The diminutive Kambona, replaces William Tumwine, who has been at the helm of the badminton association for six years and he sought not to seek a third term thus paving way for the new boss.
The smooth elective assembly that had National Council of Sports’s Sam Walusimbi as the returning officer also choose Sister Claire Nakubulwe, as the vice-chairman of UBA. The badminton body has a sound record of proper accountability and transparency which has seen them have a smooth relationship with several corporate companies.
Other new faces in the executive include Eric Byarugaba, who retained his position by similar fashion his assistant is Ivan Karimunda while Michael Opira replaces David Mayeku. The committee members are Gilbert Ofoyuru,Festo Bagambisa, Fred Bugembe and David Asiimwe.
“I am looking forward to my new challenges, but my emphasis is going to be on the youth and further spreading the game in schools,” Kambona said in his maiden speech. “I will also consolidate our good relationship with our corporate sponsors and seek more sponsorship from others.” Uganda Badminton Association has a pool of ten corporate sponsors to be proud off.
