New signing, Stella Atim only proved that she still much more in stock for her new side after poising 71 runs and picking five wickets that gave Wanderers their first league win over Gayaza High in yesterday’s National Women’s cricket league duel at Lugogo.
Atim’s perfomance not only accorded her the player of the match honour but also handed Gayaza a second straight loss in as many games.
The result was flourished by Wanderers’ skipper Mary Nanderega who had notched 41 off 43. “We are aiming for the title” said Nanderega.
Gayaza would have done better but hauled at 71, failing to meet the 243 target.
Irene Tumusiime, schools’ cricket week top player had only eight from 43 balls.
“At the moment, we are grooming players for the future senior side” stated Rebeccah Mirembe, Gayaza skipper.
