A section of Villa fans has petitioned to meet club founders over issues regarding their position as far as the club is concerned. This comes in the wake of last week’s incidents that saw two Villa fans, Samson Mubiru and Med Ssembajja arrested on allegations of threatening to disrupt the team’s training sessions if Coach Mike Mutebi doesn’t resign.
The two have since been released but banned from all Villa activities according to a statement released by the Villa management. In their letter to the Villa secretary dated 7th/May/2012 which Kawowo sports happened to set an eye on, the following are the issues raised by the fans and appear as quoted from the letter.
“We as Villa fans don’t know our position, we don’t know what shares we have, and further don’t understand the criteria used for one to acquire most shares in the club since we were never consulted”.
In the two paged letter, the fans also raise the issue of the big gap that exists between the club founders, fans and the current club executive run by Fred Muwema. They go further to show how club legends used to participate in the affairs of the club. “This has resulted into the club being run by only two individuals i.e Mr. Muwema and Kanaaba Joseph. The fans and club founders have been eliminated”, the letter quotes.
Interestingly, the letter quotes that non – Villa supporters are now administrators at the club implying the tradition and values of Villa have died away. In this case, they cite Director of football Kanaaba Joseph as a KCC FC. “The current director of football and at the same time working as the CEO of Villa is a strong diehard of KCC FC”, indicates the letter.
They also question Coach Mike’s loyalty to Villa. “The Coach and the same time manager of SC.Villa is a legend and staunch supporter of KCC FC. These people don’t have Villa at heart and can’t die a little for the club”. The letter continues to comment on the endless wrangles and battles between FUFA and Mr. Muwema to have created a gap between the body and Villa. “Mr. Muwema is always in courts of law fighting with FUFA instead of concetrating on issues of the club. In the end, a bridge between Villa and FUFA has been washed away”.
In the same letter, they request the Villa secretary to convey their message to club founders and mentioned Mr. Moses Matovu, Eriab Kamya, Tom Bwete, Topher Musoke, Mzee Tezanya Kikadde, Sam Tamale Kapeera and Fred Kawuma apologising to those not mentioned but request the message to be conveyed.
Amazingly, the letter which bears only one signature acknowledges being signed by Villa fans and singling out no one on their behalf and indicates the meeting will be held on Sunday, 13th. May 2012 at Club Obligato.
When Kawowo sports talked to SC.Villa administrative officer Luyimbazi Joram Mugalu, he acknowledged having heard of the meeting and said the fans have their right to meet the founders. “As fans, i think there is no problem with that. The good thing is that the legends are aware of everything administrative going on at the club. May be the fans will get to know that from the legends themselves”, he concluded.
