Uganda Cranes Iceland based duo of Tony Mawejje and Abel Dhaira began the hunt for Europa glory when they pay a courtesy visit to St. Patrick Athletic of Ireland in the first leg of the first qualifying round in Europa league to be played at Richmond Park this Thursday.
Dhaira and Mawejje are part of the squad that travelled to Dublin to play the home side.
According to UEFA rankings after the 2011/12 season, IBV Vestmannaeyjar
is ranked 393 while it’s opponents on the day are 227.
The Uefa Europa league is played in three phases with three qualifying rounds, group stages and the knock out phases were third placed teams from UEFA Champions league groups also join including the finals.
The winner over two legs in the qualifying rounds join the next stage while the top two teams in the group phase combine with the third placed team Champions league groups to play in a knock out ties on a home and away basis.
The UEFA Europa league is Europe’s second elite league tie.
