But the Shs68m from Multiple Industries (for the National men’s leagues) and today’s boost may remain the biggest positives under Uganda Cricket Association’s (UCA) positives this year.
The local body finally secured the first sponsorship in history for the national teams (men and women) in a one-year renewable contract ahead of their engagements in the ICC World Division 3 League in Bermuda next April and Africa Regional T20 Tourney in Dar-es Salaam this December.
The over Shs200m deal was also extended to the Women’s National T20 League due July 28. With the power of branding, it will be known as the Mehta Premier League.
The whole partnership will see sponsors cover the teams’ attire, equipment, and players’ monthly remunerations. “UCA is very excited to associate with the Mehta Group of Companies, one of the oldest business groups in the country. We are sure the partnership will even grow stronger years to come” CEO Justine Ligyalingi told Kawowo Sports.
