Ahead of the 2013 Nations Cup final round qualifier against the Uganda Cranes, the Zambian national team has been boasted by the return of forward Jacob Mulenga from injury.

The FC Utrecht striker has been included into the squad for the international friendly match against South Korea on the 15th of August before hosting Uganda on 8th September at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

According to the UkZambians website, the centre forward has been out since December last year and even missed the 2012 Nations Cup edition in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea which was eventually won by Zambia.

Mulenga’s last appearance for Zambia was against Libya on 8th, October last year in the 2012 Afcon qualifiers.

The match ended in a barren draw but ensured Zambia’s qualification for the last Nations cup edition. On his return to the team after all that period out, Mulenga said; “I am very happy that the coach has asked me for this game.

I see this as a reward for my hard work after my cruciate ligament injury”. Jacob Mulenga is a dangerous striker who must keenly watched by the Cranes when the teams meet over two legs in the final round qualifier for a berth in South Africa 2013.

Despite being out for six month last season, the Zambian was his club’s top scorer with 9 Dutch league goals and has so far netted two goals in three friendly games for the Dutch Eredivisie side.
