Group C:
- Brazil 1-1 Morocco
Morocco, one of Africa’s representatives at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, held the five-time world champions Brazil to a one-all draw in Group C at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday morning.
The Atlas Lions took the lead through Ismael Saibari in the 20th minute, with Vinicius Jose Paixo de Oliveira Junior equalising 10 minutes later.
Saibari gave Morocco the lead on 20 minutes as the PSV Eindhoven forward finished with a wonder loop over the advancing goalkeeper Alisson Becker after a telling through ball by Brahim Diaz.
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior responded with the equaliser a minute after the half-hour mark with a bullet shot past goalkeeper Yassine Bononu.

Carlos Henrique Casimiro was cautioned for fouling Neil El Aynaoui in the 36th minute.
During the second half, both sides called for a couple of changes, but there was no breakthrough for any further goals given the disciplined backlines.
The game was witnessed by the mayor of New York City, Zohran Kwame Mamdani, who was born in Uganda’s capital city, Kampala, 34 years ago.
