cric week

After playing out the last edition without a sponsor, Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) finally landed a new partnership with Crown Beverages, through their brand Pepsi to sponsor this year’s Boys’ schools’ Cricket week.
The games due August 4-11 will take Shs20m and the tourney is expected to live to its billing. Out of the 42 schools that took part in this year’s regional qualifiers, only 12 will grace the five ovals in Lugogo, Kyambogo, Budo (2) and Makerere.
UCA CEO Justin Ligyalingi was delighted on the move. “We appreciate Pepsi’s contribution today, as well as their past support to the rejuvenation of the game in Uganda” he said. At the end of the competition, a 15-man national schools’ team will be chosen to go on tour to Tanzania. Furthermore, the bigger bulk will form the U-15, U-17 and U-19 sides.
