While the Ugandan contingent matched at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics, Africa number one badminton star Edwin Ekiring had a crunch tie to ponder about. The Ugandan played out a men’s singles Group F tie with Frenchman Brice Leverdez. The latter won on straight sets 2-0 (21-12, 21-11) to fancy his chances to the next round.
For Ekiring who earned a wild card to the XXX Olympiad will need to play his best ever game against world number 16 Wing Wong Ki at the Wembley Arena. Only the top player from the group will stay in contention for the medals but by the look of things, the Netherlands based player has a mountain to climb.
