Wing Wong Ki (HKG) 2 – 0 Edwin Ekiring (UG)
Ugandan badminton star bowed out of the London Olympics after suffering a two straight set loss to Hong Kong’s Wing Wong Ki.
Ki defeated the Africa number one 21-10 and 21-8 to put the latter out of contentrion.
Ekiring had earlier failed to star against Frenchman Brice Leverdez who also beat him 2-0 at the Wembley Arena
It was Ekiring’s second outing at the world’s biggest Games after becoming the first Ugandan to play the sport at the Beijing Technology of Gymnasium.
Then, four years ago he was eliminated at the round of 32 by South Korean Park Sung-hwan in two straight sets.
On both occassions, Ekiring first earned wild cards in order to play.
15 Ugandan other athletes are still in the fray to end a 16-year medal jinx at the Games.
