It was foot stumping and ululations at the 19th hole at Entebbe Golf Club as Western Region claimed their fifteen Inter Region golf tournament crown on Saturday..
The team from the West that was dominated by young golfers from Fort Portal,Kilembe and other clubs led
from day one of action on Friday with net scores of 1458 and a final net score of 2,934.
“We where confident of winning back our crown and our preparations started early and that really paid off,” Godfrey Mande, the coach of the winning side said. “I must give credit to all the teams that took part and they gave us a challenge especially Buganda and last year’s winners East.”
Buganda who chased the West from day one returning with a final net score of 2,989 having started their opening round with 1468 nett.
The “Wise Men” from the East relinquished their crown finishing third having started with 1498 and ending their rounds with 3,028 while the North finished last with a 1586 and 3,176.
The two day event was sponsored by Nile Breweries under their brand Castle Lite other partners where Multiple Industries.
