
East Africa’s finest professional golfers will hit the course tomorrow as they chase a prize stake of $7,837(20 million Uganda Shillings) in the prestigious Uganda Amateur Golf Open Championship at the par 72 Kitante golf course.
It’s the highest amount of money that has been offered to the professionals by East African Breweries under their brand Tusker Malt Lager.
Uganda’s charge will be led by the country’s top professional Deo Akope,others that will be eyeing top honours include Herman Mutawe,Godfrey Mande,Denis Anguyo,Amos Kamya,Brian Mwesigwa,George Olayo,Silver Opio,Stephen Odong,Dickson Lagoro,Gerald Ayella,Vincent Byamukama,Onito Opio,Grace Onito Ocici,Fred Wanzala,Ian Odokonyero,Brian Toolit,Said Mawa.
Kenya will field Richard Ainley,David Wakhu,Sullivan Muthugia,Dismus Indiza,David Odiambo,Paul Thuo,Njunguna Ngugi,Jacob Okello and James Lorum. Tanzania has Hassani Kadio while Rwanda has Emmanuel Ruterana,Jean Baptiste Hakizimana and Olivier Ernest.
The tournament runs over four days and will reach a climax on Saturday when it concludes.
