
Uganda’s top golfer Deo Akope maintained his stronghold at the 70th edition of the Tusker Malt Uganda Open Amateur Golf Championship on day two at the par 72 Kitante golf course shooting a perfect score of five under par 67 gross going into tomorrow’s day of action.
Kenya’s Dismus Indiza, shot an equal score of five under par 67 gross to maintain his chase for the top prize.
“I am happy with my game and hope to maintain it that way,but golf can be very unpredictable,” Indiza told Kawowo sports. “I enjoy playing on this course and the greens are perfect and holding well at the same time they are fast which is good for me.”
The golfers returned with perfect scores in a very closely contested tournament that has them vying for 20 million shillings worth of prize money with the top twenty golfers sharing the money.
Uganda Golf Club’s teaching professional and surprise pick of the chasing pack Sadi Atibu is three under par 69 gross and in contention.
A total of 32 professional golfers from Kenya,Tanzania,Rwanda and Uganda are taking part in this four day tournament.
